No release date has been set but it will air on Sky Atlantic in the United Kingdom and HBO in the U.S. The series will re-examine the events that led up to Lee's 1999 murder and Sky says the series will present "ground-breaking revelations that challenge the state's case".
The series has been in production since 2015, but there is no date now set for its release.

Syed was found guilty of Min Lee's murder at his second trial in 2000, after his first ended in a mistrial. The Court of Special Appeals also ruled to vacate Syed's conviction and granted a retrial on March 29, 2018.
Debbie said that she thinks McClain - who was friends with Syed at the time of the murder - does want to remember what happened. He remains in prison while awaiting a ruling by the Maryland Court of Appeals. But Debbie doesn't believe that McClain's memory is accurate.
