There was speculation that Maggie Rhee could exit during the season eight finale, after confirmation that Lauren Cohan signed onto a new show, though she ended up staying put. He's apparently in only six episodes of the ninth season. Why? Riggs' Carl, Rick's son, was killed in the middle of Season 8, while James' Morgan crossed over to spin-off Fear the Walking Dead. After ABC picked up Whiskey to series for a midseason bow, it closed the door on Cohan's full-time return to the series - even if she had closed a new deal. And with other main cast members including Danai Gurira looking at the end of their current contracts at the end of season 9 if the show does continue past season 9 it will be looking at nearly a complete reboot.
