Monday evening, the Ohio State University issued a release stating that a "special, independent board" had been formed by the OSU Board of Trustees and that they would directing the ongoing investigation involving currently-suspended football head coach Urban Meyer. However, on Monday Courtney Smith told college football reporter Brett McMurphy that Urban Meyer did know about the domestic violence.
She also told McMurphy that Shelley said she would have to tell Urban and Courtney encouraged her to do so.
Courtney sat down with Stadium to talk about what role Urban Meyer and his wife, Shelley, should have had in intervening.
Zach Smith had been on Meyer's staff since Meyer's days at the University of Florida, but he was sacked last week after McMurphy dug up multiple police reports alleging domestic violence against Zach Smith.

That figure makes him not only the highest-paid state employee in OH, but the highest-paid public-school football coach in the United States. Zach Smith pleaded not guilty last month.
In 2015, police were called to Smith's home on another domestic abuse call but no charges were filed. The charge was dropped because of insufficient evidence. Smith has never been criminally charged.
Of course, whether Shelley Meyer really did tell her husband about Zach Smith is the subject of Ohio State's investigation.
