As back to school shopping starts up, state sales tax is dropping off some items.
Exempted items during tax-free weekend include shoes and clothing under $100 per item, computers under $1,000, computer hardware under $500 and school supplies under $30 per item.
The tax holiday will last until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 5.

The study also found that OH counties that border other states experienced a 15.48 percent increase in sales tax collection, leading to the conclusion that many out-of-state families traveled to OH to take part in the tax holiday.
School supplies: $20 or less per item. "It's also big because it's right before fair, so everybody is wanting to rush in and get their back to school shopping finished".
For clothing, the price of the item must be $75 or under.
While Florence, S.C., is only 55 miles away and the tax-free weekend can seem tempting, people are encouraged to stay and shop local.
Chandler is the Wisconsin Secretary of Revenue and he explained what the state's program is all about. The gift certificate can be used at any of the participating chamber businesses and works just like cash or a gift card. Coupons and discounts available for items under the tax-free list may still be applied to reduce the item's sales price.
