The new GPUs, based on an architecture codenamed Turing, merge conventional graphics rasterisation, real-time ray tracing, AI, and compute power for the first time.
Pre-orders on nvidia.com and at over 100 participating partners starts today for GeForce RTX 2080 Ti and GeForce RTX 2080, with availability starting on September 20. According to Nvidia, these are the retail prices for the third-party manufacturer cards.
The first thing that does need to be said, however, is that we were obviously playing early versions of the RTX builds of both games, and with relatively early drivers for the RTX 2080 Ti graphics card too. Upcoming games with ray tracing include Battlefield V, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Metro Exodus, Control, Assetto Corsa Competizione and more.More news: Pentagon Announces Military Parade Will Be Postponed Until Next Year
Nvida even says to more accurately judge the performance of new RTX cards, it had to create a new unit of measure called RTX OPS, which includes a combination of standard shader performance, floating point integer performance, ray tracing performance and AI performance. The RTX listings for the cards have since been taken down.
Ahead of Nvidia's pre-Gamescom keynote on Monday, Internet retailers spilled the beans on the existence of the company's next consumer-grade graphics cards: the RTX 2080 and 2080 Ti. A cheaper model, the RTX 2070, will be available for $499, but won't arrive until October. Furthermore, the entire power delivery system has been rebuilt for GeForce RTX Founders Edition graphics cards, starting with the all-new 13-phase iMON DrMOS power supply. Nvidia's G-Sync feature means titles running under the card will have tear-free gameplay, refresh rates of up to 240 Hz, HDR, and 4K.

Nvidia has also opened pre-orders on the Founder's Editions of the 2080s. The RTX 2080 Ti would ship with 11GB of memory, and have 78 trillion RTX-OPS and 10 Giga Rays/s of performance. "Everything just works because ray tracing just works".
While the shadows in my play-time did look pretty good, in that brightly lit instance it's hard to see where they look that much better than the traditional way that shadows are faked in-game. We should mention that the NVIDIA Founders Editions of these cards will ship at $1,199, $799 and $599 respectively.
