Apple may throw a wrench in its usual iPhone naming scheme by using letters (and Roman numerals) instead of numbers.
Last year, Apple put the iPhone X on sale in early November, nearly two months after it was unveiled. The iPhone 8, which the new lower-cost iPhone X-like model is expected to replace in the line up, starts at US$699 or US$799 depending on screen size.

As The Verge reports, however, it appears that some early information has been leaked to the internet via popular social media platform Twitter - the information in question indicating that the entry level iPhone will be called the iPhone XC. The anticipated iPhone XS and its larger counterpart are also expected to have this type of screen, while the "cheaper" phone will get an LCD screen.
