This promotion waives that minimum for the time being, and puts Amazon in-step with competitor Target, which waived its $35 order minimum and now offers free two-day shipping to all customers through December 22.
And more than three-million items will be eligible for same-day delivery during the holiday season for Prime members.
Amazon already offered free 2-day shipping to Amazon Prime subscribers, which is why Target made free 2-day shipping for its customers.
It's offering free shipping on all holiday orders arriving in time for Christmas.
"Amazon's move to give free shipping for all this holiday supports [the] thesis that retailers are catching up on Amazon with supply chain speed, fulfillment and delivery", Konik wrote. Retailers are competing hard for holiday shoppers, who increasingly expect fast shipping that's free.
