Nigeria has again lost the chance to claim an Oscar as "Black Panther, ' which features Sope Aluko, lost the "Best Picture" category award to 'Green Book". That changed tonight, when Hannah Beachler won Best Production Design for her Afrofuturism work in Black Panther.
"Thank you to the Academy, thank you for honoring African royalty and the empowered way women can look and lead on-screen", she continued.
With Beachler's win, this is also the first time a black woman has ever won the Oscar for Best Production Design.
Carter also worked on Malcolm X and Selma while Beachler who shared the production design award with Jay Hart, previously worked on Moonlight, Creed and Beyonce's Lemonade.

In a series of tweets, the Agency used Panther's performance at the Oscars to promote its own "Reel vs".

These three victories just added more feathers to Black Panther's achievements. We can get nominations for movies about Africa, we can get nominations for movies with a diverse cast and crew, and we can even get nominations for superhero movies.
Black Panther stars Chadwick Boseman, Danai Gurira, Letitia Wright, and Winston Duke are next expected to return in Avengers: Endgame, due out April 26.
Hannah actually made history as the first ever Black nominee in the category.
