Rescue crews using dogs and drones searched for victims amid splintered lumber and twisted metal Monday after the deadliest USA tornado in almost six years ripped through a rural Alabama community.
CNN meteorologist Dave Hennen said severe weather Friday afternoon into the evening will stretch from northern Texas into eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas. The main threat will be damaging winds and an isolated tornado. High winds, hail and tornadoes are possible.
The New Orleans metro area and South Louisiana are not within the areas forecast for severe weather, but storms are expected farther north including in Shreveport and Monroe.
President Trump said he pledged his "unwavering support" to the residents of Lee County.
iHeartMedia's Alabama Region President Ray Quinn says hearts are heavy following the disastrous tornadoes that took place on Sunday.
Alabama Governor Kay Ivey posted on Twitter to warn residents there could be more extreme weather to come.
At least 23 people were killed in Lee County. Those killed ranged in age from 6 to 89.
"We are still in standby mode on the outside chance they find somebody else, which is not likely", County Coroner Bill Harris told a news conference.
